Purely by accident (or so we claim), Dark Horse was one of the first booths we visited at the recent American Equestrian Trade Association winter show. From dark chocolate dressage horses to peppermint ponies, we've personally tasted this chocolate and it is delicious!

These custom tall boots come just the way we like them - slender styling and a glove like fit - at a fraction of the price of other customs. Hand made in Ecuador since 1906, we're not the only ones currently falling in love with La Mundial.

Unlike it's modern, technical fabric counterparts, this coat is pure-wool English tweed from a Yorkshire mill founded in 1837. It's good to never lose sight of the classics, and this is one takes you from hacking trail to pub on an old-fashioned country day.

The classic lines of the riding coat have held up well against the force of trend but, until now, we've questioned the show coat's ability to evolve with the physical and environmental demands of competitive equestrian sport. Meet the new modern show coat.

It's taken us a while to adapt from the relatively mild climate of our native Northern California to the nagging chill of the cold, wet Pacific Northwest winter and we're not sure we could have done it without this breech. Why do we love it so much, you ask? Let us count the ways.

As every equestrian knows, leisure time is the ultimate luxury, and these Memory Game cards with selected drawings from the Emile Hermes collection are a fabulous way to pass a rainy Sunday afternoon in style. Suitable for young and old alike, but it is the cultured equestrian who will truly appreciate the historical reference of Hermes' sketches and the elegance of the stylized Hermes Duc carriage logo on the cards.

We think this Navajo print mini with grosgrain ribbon trim would be the perfect choice to add a subtle and unexpected western reference to the equestrian's holiday party style. Part of a 23 piece limited edition collection, the design is a collaboration between Oregon's iconic Pendleton Woolen Mills and fashion/gallery innovators Opening Ceremony.

Okay, so it would be a stretch to call these Ragg Wool Fingerless Gloves "in style." The look may be service-station chic, but after several year of wear, we give them our full endorsement as a must-have winter glove for equestrians. Tired of pulling your gloves on and off each time you blanket a horse, tack up, clean your bridle, or even use your cell phone (especially iPhones, which require a finger's "touch")?

A Portland-based equine fashion designer recently (via Daily Candy) tipped us off to Horse+Nail, a very cool line of custom made, hand crafted handbags. According to designer Lindsey Hufnagel, who grew up riding horses in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, her designs are inspired by the creative use of horse tack. Gucci may have pioneered the "bit bag", but when was the last time you saw a hackamore or a curb chain on the strap of a leather tote?

Dappled Grey is loving the new jewelry from, Jumpline Designs, created by Oregon-based designer and equine entrepreneur Mollie Wolfe. The rings and bracelets from the "Pole Collection," which reference the bold and familiar colored stripes of jump poles, wear comfortably and have a timeless sophistication to them. For us, the bracelets bring to mind vintage Gucci, one of our favorite guilty pleasures.

Our editor just bought these rain boots - the black pair - for a steal at a chain discount store. While we're not favoring the impending arrival of the wet season, finding such a stylish set of wellies does make winter seem a bit more palatable! The wedge heel is not too tall, surprisingly comfortable, and, while we'd probably avoid wearing them out to the pasture or risk the ridicule of the farrier, they are just perfect for to and from the barn with breeches.

Stop by Elektra's etsy store to pick up the now famous t shirt.

So this may be coming a bit late for some of you, but for those of us that live in the Pacific Northwest (or similar climes), mid June is indeed the time to swap out the winter fleece for our short sleeved riding wear. Among our favorites for schooling or apres-show are the polo and rugby shirts from Ralph Lauren Rugby.

The crowd was spilling into the aisle at Vintage Belts.com, one of the most popular vendor booths at the 2009 FEI World Cup in Las Vegas. Loren Buclaw's "studly" accessories, pardon the pun, have a rock n' roll look that add the perfect edge to equestrian fashion! We're particularly smitten with the handstudded cuffs by Old Stud Handmade.
