About Dappled Grey
Dappled Grey is an online guide dedicated to the best of the English equestrian lifestyle. We scour the Internet, work directly with designers and retailers, and hone the ultimate bucket list to bring our readers the latest, most fabulous must-haves and must dos for the English equestrian.
Our international audience is heavy on the horsey-set, but Dappled Grey is definitely not your typical horse blog. We’re all about curating our finds so you only get the good stuff. And, if you’re not an equestrian? Dappled Grey welcomes you, too. We know plenty of our readers don’t ride or own horses, but still appreciate and enjoy equestrian style.
In addition to our blog, Dappled Grey offers the free Weekly Guide to the English Equestrian Lifestyle, a once-per-week email that delivers a collection of our exclusive equestrian content directly to your inbox. Readers don’t have to subscribe, but our emails often include specially curated content that you won’t otherwise see.
Publisher/Editor Molly Knott
Publisher/editor Molly Knott founded Dappled Grey in 2009. An equestrian with over 30 years of experience in the English riding disciplines of Hunters, Equitation, and, more recently, Dressage, she brings to the blog a background in research/writing as well as an innate creative capacity and expertise in social media.
As a Stanford-educated education policy researcher, Molly conducted large scale education research projects supported by notable funders such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. In 2009, she swapped research and writing about schools and teachers for stories about saddles and tack – and has never looked back as Dappled Grey has grown into a first-of-its-kind online guide to the English equestrian lifestyle.
Like many of Dappled Grey’s readers, a lifelong passion for horses and riding influences every aspect of Molly’s life and what you see on Dappled Grey is a direct, editorial representation of her personal style and interests.
Through working with several hundred brands and advertisers featured on Dappled Grey and interacting with its readers on social media, she has excellent strategic knowledge of the equestrian market. In addition to her work on the blog, Molly writes for Equestrian Quarterly magazine and has recently launched an equestrian apparel collaboration.
Not every aspect of the equestrian lifestyle is glamorous and luxurious. Truth be told, it’s a ton of hard work. The key is never losing sight of what’s at its core – the magnificence of the horse. Dappled Grey is meant to be enjoyed as a fun, celebratory look at the styles and culture inspired by the horse.
