Cheval Fashions Show Shirts
“Flattering and functional” is one of the highest compliments you can get on Dappled Grey and they’re the first two words that come to mind when describing these fabulous new show shirts from Canada’s Cheval Fashions.
Let’s start with the flattering part. Made of beautiful 100% 2-ply/100 thread count cotton, Cheval has really gotten the fabric, fit, and seaming just right. These shirts slide on and lie smooth, with tailoring in all the right places and a bit of extra length in the body and sleeve – perfect for keeping your tails tucked in and your cuffs showing under your show coat.
As for function, we’re smitten with Cheval’s clever new two-shirts-in-one design. A show shirt by day, simply snap open the collar and roll up the sleeves, courtesy of sleeve tabs, and the Cheval shirt makes the transition from competition to apres show with ease.
Founding Cheval in 2010, owner/designer Jennifer Hurlbut set out to create a shirt that reflected the history of equestrian apparel but, in her words, “didn’t look like a uniform.” For us, Cheval does just that, striking a perfect balance between traditional styling and playful, personalized details.
Available in: White, with colored topstitching and peekaboo patterns at the collar and sleeve, or several colorful check patterns. Seen on: Grand Prix rider Margie Engle and Canadian Showjumping Team rider Lisa Carlsen.
Editor’s note: Remember our post on the New “Name” Belt? That’s a Cheval creation too!
