Perhaps that’s had something to do with the success of the family-run rain boot company known as BOGS?!

Since Dappled Grey makes its home in the Pacific Northwest, we’re constantly pining for a new pair of BOGS. We love the new version of the popular “Rider” boot. But we also fell immediately for the “Zoe” (shown right), a lace-up ankle style with a boiled wool collar that struck us as the perfect marriage between a Duck boot and a Doc Marten.

What makes BOGS special is their unique combination of comfort and cold/wet protection. All their outdoor sport boots are temperature rated to at least sub-zero and many styles are rated to -40 degrees. Every boot is made of hand laid layers of rubber over a four-way stretch inner bootie. The layer of neoprene ranges for 5-7mm thick depending on the style.

BOGS deep Oregon roots can also be found at their Burch’s Fine Footwear retail store in Eugene (2 hours south of Portland).
