The “Bonnie” Books: A Beloved Series Revisited

The Bonnie Books: A Beloved Series Revisited The Bonnie Books A Beloved Series Revisited Before Rachel, before Zenyatta, there was… Bonnie!

If you fondly remember reading the horse books of your youth, then you will be thrilled with Poppet Press’ new release of the popular 1970′s young adult fiction series known as the “Bonnie” books.

Written by veteran horsewoman Barbara Van Tuyl, the “Bonnie” books feature a teenage Julie Jefferson and her beloved, rescued Thoroughbred racehorse Bonnie. The series begins with “The Sweet Running Filly” and continues with “A Horse Called Bonnie,” throughout which Julie and her mare face a multitude of adventures and a still-recognizable-today cast of horse world characters.

A wholesome and entertaining read for all ages, the revival of Bonnie is also  connected to a good cause. Poppet Press is using the reprinting of the books to raise funds for Thoroughbred charities for retired racehorses.
